How to get from A to B on the island of Poros and beyond, that is the question. The ‘Poriotes’ (residents of Poros) use their own scooter continously and sometimes their car. Actually, the island is too small for a car and quickly run into parking problems if you go to town, to Askeli or to Neorion. Popular among the guests that go for a ride around the island are the four wheelers also called the quads. Most of the moped rental companies have these quads available, and rent them for around 20 euros per day (do not forget your driving license so that you can proof your experience). Also the bicycle lovers are well taken care of as mountain bikes can be rented at several places, prices range from 3-5 Euros per day.
For the excursions on the mainland we recommended to rent a car. Of course you can use a scooter, but in case something goes wrong then the scooter owned will not be so happy if you tell him that you have engine trouble somewhere on the mainland. And it’s also annoying for yourself as the repairmen also needs to take a ferry before he can reach you. On Poros there are no cars for rent, in Galatas there are. A small car costs 30 Euros per day.
It is possible to rent a waterscooter, but this is usually only for a short time, as is the case for a surfboard or a small sailboat. It is possible to rent a large sailboat including skipper, let us know in advance so we’ll contact our partner at Greek Sails.
